May Highlights
May is the month of Mary. We honor our Blessed Mother with song, prayers, and devotions. Our eithth grade will honor Mary with the beautiful Magnificat, which we will perform at our May Crowning Ceremony and Liturgy on May 11 @ 10:00am. It is a beautiful event that we look forward to each spring. Please join us.
Spring is also a good time to read and reflect on poetry. Both seventh and eighth grade students in my classes have begun to read ballads and odes. When we gain insight into these types of poetry, we will model our own, bringing out the true poet in each of us.
Our Social Studies topics bring us to post-WWII America and the Fabulous Fifties, which brought not only new innovations to make our lives easier, but also the tensions of the Cold War and the early Civil Rights Movement. It is also a time that some of our relatives may have lived through, and can share memories and opinions to make our study more personal to our lives.
As we wind down the year and look forward to graduation, please be mindful of the dates of 8th grade activities, as well as any directions we may have for each one. Our graduation letter lists these activities. Our exam schedule will be given to students along with a study guide for each subject. The dates for our exams will be May 31-June 5.
Thank you for all you do as parents of our students. We appreciate your kind thoughts and efforts.
